Weekend hospital staffing questioned by reader

Janice Dudley dies - hospital query

A reader has drawn attention to the fact that Cllr Janice Dudley died at or close to the NHS Baglan Moors hospital raises questions as to if the weekend staffing was in anyway a contributory factor.

It must made clear that facts on this matter have yet to emerge.

Recent surveys have revealed that more deaths occur at NHS hospitals at weekends compared to midweek admissions.

The reader suggests that the coroner should question this at the inquest.

See letter on Readers' Letters page.

A photographic tribute appears on Janice Dudley's personal website:

Information on Asthma:

Perhaps the public as a whole should have a greater awareness about asthma and how to help someone who has asthma attack.   Asthma is more common than some realise.   The following website explains:

A video tribute to Janice Dudley has been put on Youtube by a Resolven resident:

From the NPT Council website:

During her short time as Mayor, but also as Deputy Mayor during the last civic year, Janice represented the County Borough and the Council with distinction at numerous events.  She also did likewise in other roles such as the Chair of the Mid and West Wales Fire Authority and was also a highly respected Ward Member for Bryncoch South.  Our thoughts and prayers at this sad time are with her family.

As a mark of respect, the activities of the Mayoralty have been suspended until further notice.

A book of condolence will be opened at the Civic Centre in Port Talbot.

Councillor Rob Jones, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council.
