+ Following STAN's comments about undesirables in Neath, THE NEATH FERRET found the following item on the Internet:-

The suggestion is to carry a torch with a laser type beam, which if shone in the face of an attacker will blind them for a minute or so.   

The source of this information (or officials) cannot be verified - but the suggestion is worth further thought.

+  Following the above report The Neath Ferret looked more closely at laser torches and some examples are given below.

These could be dangerous in the wrong hands (including young children) and maybe in the future a licence may be required to possess one.

The Police could well consider these torches for night time use as a safer alternative to a Taser Gun.

Cheaper high intensity beam torches may also prove to be effective for personal protection.
