1. Neath Town Council

On the East side of the river Neath we have the Neath Town council.  Our columnist, Stan, congratulates Cllr John Warman (right) on his appointment as Mayor for the forthcoming year 2016/17 in Readers Letters.   We endorse this and think it is about time we highlighted community councils.

A total of 18 councillors cover the following wards:

Castle Ward; Cefn Saeson Ward; Crynalt Ward; Mount Pleasant Ward; Gnoll Ward; Llanwit Ward; Melyncrythan Ward; Penrhiwtyn Ward.

Photographs of all the councillors appear on the website along with their contact details.

Neath Town Councillors are volunteers and do not receive any payment or allowance for their work. They are bound by a Code of Conduct which requires them to act selflessly, objectively, within the law and to give assurance for the proper use of public funds and assets.   The website includes photographs of all the councillors.

2.   Blaenhoddan Community Council. which covers the West side of the river Neath.  A review of their website and how it compares with the others. 

3.   Briton Ferry Town Community Council.   Another website review for you to compares with neigbouring councils.

Remember - residents pay towards the running of these councils, which includes the up-keep of community centres.   The average household pays around £52 per year, which comes from your council tax administered by the Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
