Red Card Alert for Readers Letters

Some recent posts have lowered the standard on our Readers Letters page - and we blame our filter system, which has in the past rejected some letters of an objectionable nature, mainly with personal insults to other readers.   Also there are the frivolous posts as perhaps seen in a students rag.

The editor says that an attempt has been made to make the readers letters page as open and as democratic as possible, but has now decided to use a new computerised filter to validate posts.  This will operate within a few days.

Let's just say that our spring clean will be early this year, which will hopefully result in a more down to earth Readers Letters page that the majority of visitors will appreciate.
