Following the report (Readers Letters) by ex-councillor Frank Little about the sink hole in Cimla Road, Mike Davies went along to photograph the scene, as shown below:

The sink hole appeared in Neath, Wales, United Kingdom, leading to the closure of a main road.
Police have closed off Cimla Road, following the discovery at the bottom of Cimla Hill.
Neath Port Talbot council workers are currently at the scene assessing the damage and preparing to carry out emergency repairs to the hole that was said to be 20ft deep.   The hole has also been examined by mining engineers.

Additional Info:
On the 8/7/1871, at Cimla Colliery, an auction sale of colliery plant took place.
For the years 1880-82 only, Cymla Colliery was in the List of Mines under G. W. Davie.
From 1957 to 1960 a Cimla mine was licensed to John Morgan & Co. (Neath) Ltd. and Cimla No. 2 was closed on 1/4/1960, thus inferring a Cimla No. 1.

+ In READERS LETTERS David Lewis explains about so called 'Sink Holes".

+ A new menu item: SINK HOLES has been added for those interested.
