I must congratulate our Stanley on his  investigative skills and exposing my long term relationship with Trolls.

 

It all started when I did a ten year stint as an exploration geologist in Arctic Norway. Working in the wilderness required camping and I regularly camped at the edge of the lake shown in the two photographs.  

 

The Lake is called ‘Store Trollvikvatnet’  ( Big Troll Lake - genuine, honest). Then one night at the height of the Midnight Sun (pictured below) they came out of the lake for a chat and now three decades later we are the best of friends..

 

Along with Norwegian friends, I now regularly  attend their summer school at the lakes edge. The  picture above shows our tents at the lakes edge in 2009. I’m meeting them again shortly at a forth coming summer school - I’m urgently in need of a refresher course!
