Neath I (eye)

Bring back the Neath I website

There is a big demand to update and highlight the NEATH I website - the Neath Inspector who highlights eyesores.   In fairness to the council, we must say that the eyesores previously mentioned received attention, with a couple of exceptions.

We again put the council to the test to see how caring they are by publishing below a readers photograph with comments the reader made.

Readers comments: "What a wonderful seat for any local or tourists if one should feel like a rest along the Neath canal."

Pride in the area

See what reader Terry Griffiths says on our Readers' Letters page and what the Bryncoch Environment Group are doing to keep their area tidy.

We can't help wondering if a scheme could be introduced whereby the council would pay a group for every bag of rubbish filled (household waste excluded).  We have been told that these groups have great fun when they get together and that there is a competitive spirit to see who can fill the most bags.

Groups like these could save the council money - but care must be taken not to take advantage of their community spirit.   Maybe there should be a slogan:  'Keep fit by picking up rubbish'.      Litter picking 'sticks' are provided to make the job easy.
