Cllr Peter Rees writes on our Reader's Letters page and we print an extract below because we consider the forth coming social welfare changes to be a very important issue.      

"I have been alerting the members of the Council for some considerable time about the effects these changes will have on our communities.
We are informing residents and supporting as far as possible those who need help. We have developed a new directory of advice providers that cover the Neath Port Talbot area in relation to Welfare Rights, Housing, Debt Family Law and employment. These dedicated services offer a range of support which includes helping people maximise their benefit entitlements, assist with form filling and attending court in certain circumstances. All councillors are asked to contact the Council on 01639 763020 to get a copy of the directory. Councillors will then be able to advise their constituents when they are approached.
