Fire risk at Empire development

Our concern is about the Internet reports on vandals attacking timber framed/clad terraced buildings, similar to the new development at the Rope Walk on the site of the former Neath Empire.   The possibilty of a vendetta for the demolition of the Empire must not be excluded.

Internet reports suggest that buildings of this constuction are often the target of arsonists, who are aware that fire spreads quickly.   There have been several fires on developments of this type in various parts of the UK, according to Internet reports.

We have been assured by Cllr Janice Dudley (who is on the Fire Service Advisory Committee) that fire officers have been instructed to closely monitor the development.

We delayed this report until we were informed that the Neath Fire Service were aware of the situation.
