Sound vision for the near future
From Town Cryer to Internet Radio - from the past to the future. A modern means of community communication that may come sooner rather than later.  We present below what is more than a vision for the future.

Where's there a will....

 .... there is a way!

'So simple even a horse can do it' - according to the above on-line extract.

The above may be a little extreme, but it meant to illustrate how easy it can be done.

The information is on the Internet – you just have to search for it. Yes, it is possible for Neath to have Internet Radio at an unbelievable low cost, only a few hundred pounds to start – and guess what, the hosting can be as low at £5 per month.

No licence is required from OFCOM for Internet Radio and there is even a company that pays the music licence fees – if you play the music provided by them.
However, a large percentage of the older generation - the section of residents that would benefit most from community radio, have not got computers.
The time is coming when TV will merge with the Internet – and maybe that will be the time to take the first step forward.

DAB radio sets will surely be followed by ones that will pick up Internet radio from any part of the world - including your very own community station, when it comes.

At the moment we are just pleased that our findings have confounded the sceptics and critics who thought it was not possible with the present financial climate.

Apart from this, it also should be remembered that Mumbles has its own Internet radio, so it endorses what we are saying.

As far as Neath is concerned, there could be an enterprising business person who may like the idea and challenge of running his/her own radio station at the present time.  Once established it could develop to something that will put Neath on the radio map.  It could very well be somebody's baby to start with.

PS...... The mobile phone industry is developing so fast that an Internet community communication service on your mobile is a definate possibility.
