Bus Stop Shelter Smoking Problem

At a recent NHW meeting with the Police, a resident reported a bus stop shelter outside his home being used by youths as a smoking den, much to the annoyance of travellers and residents.

The problem is that smoking at a bus stop shelter is within the law because it is not classified as an enclosed building.

The police said the only possible offence could be one of loitering.   The matter is being looked into.
