Concern about environment

Local Environmental Group Concerned About Dyffryn Woods

Bryncoch Environmental Group (BEG) are concerned about the privately owned Dyffryn woods.   The land owner is alleged to live in the Gower and an effort has been made to contact him personsonally, said a BEG member.   The response was a letter from the landowner's solicitor.

BEG think it only fair that the landowner should be aware of what is happening on his property - which many think should belong to the National Trust because of its nature.

The area is currently being degraded by tree cutting since NPT council lifted a preservation organ to reduce their administration work.

BEG feel that unless some care and interest is taken in the area it will progessively get worse.  The county borough councillor covering the area, Janice Dudley, said she is most concerned about the activities of youngsters in the woods and also some residents who have allegedly cut trees to build elevated decking patios.   Cllr.Dudly said that she has walked the area with council officials who admit the situation is worse than they thought.
