Complaint about Police 101

Residents complain about Police telephone number - 101

Bryncoch residents have again complained to the police about the non-emergency telephone number 101 being continually  engaged.

More than one resident at the recent PACT meeting suggested that crime figures were allegedly lower because it is not possible to report crimes that are taking place with the 101 phone number being engaged for long periods.   Residents say that they despair and give up in the end.

At an earlier pact meeting in North Bryncoch it was suggested that the police should have a facility where calls could be recorded with the option for the caller to be called back.

The current situation is said to be not good enough in this day and age when communications are capable of being effective. This matter will be again highlighted at the next PACT meeting scheduled for 6:30pm 15th September, at the Bryncoch Community Centre.

NOTE.   The Police telephone number 101 was introduced for non-emergency calls and to avoid these going through to 999.   The fact that the 101 number is engaged for long periods tempts people to revert to the 999 facility.   The suggestion of a recording/call back facility on the 101 number is a good one and should be seriously considered - it would benefit both police and residents.
