PACT Meeting at South Bryncoch

PACT Meeting Report

Bryncoch Residents concerned about the apparent lack of interest by Local Councillors

At a PACT meeting held at the Owain Glyndwr Community Centre, South Bryncoch, on Monday, 8th November, a group of residents expressed their concern that no local councillors were present.

One resident said that 10 councillors represented the area and not one was present.   Other residents said that PACT meetings presented the ideal opportunity to meet councillors for them to express their concerns about community related matters.   At the monthly council meetings members of the public are not allowed to speak and therefore PACT meetings could fill the gap in communications.

Residents requested that the Police authority write the Clerk of the Council for her to pass on their concerns to all the community councillors.

Apologies for absence were received from Cllr. Tony Wyn-Jones and Cllr. Janice Dudley - both for medical reasons.

It was stated that Cllr.Janice Dudley holds a monthly surgery- forum on the first Saturday of the month at the Owain Glyndwr Centre at 10:00am for which she pays the council £11 out of her own pocket to hire the hall,   She regrets she could not attend the November meeting because of illness.

Blaenhonddan Council Meetings   These are held at the same venue (as mentioned above) on the third Monday of the month at 6:30pm - except for December (2nd Monday) and August (no meeting).   As mentioned above, no resident is allowed to speak at these meetings.

LATE EXTRA  Since the above report was written, a councillor has informed us that the clerk of the council had called a special meeting of the council at the Cadoxton Community Centre at exactly the same time as the PACT meeting. This of course explains their absence at the PACT meeting. If this report is correct we must wonder why the council meeting was scheduled for the same time?
