Muir of Ord's Game
At Muir of Ord we have up to 4 tables in line and play an hour of singles, followed by an hour of doubles, with a few minutes 'knocking up' at the beginning of the session.
Members present divide equally between the tables and a mix of abilities is ensured on each table. Game commences and winners move up a table, whilst runners-up move down a table, ready for their next game.
Inevitably, as each session passes, the more able players migrate to one end and the less able migrate to the other end. This ensures that no one feels too exposed by their lack (or otherwise) of ability and it fulfils the social aspects of the club by enabling all members to socialise with each other as they sit and wait for their next game. There is not usually a long wait as we play to 11 points, but members are free to sit out for as long as they wish between games.
