         LangToun 18/04/10

Jones beat it, this is my job!

I woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head oohhahahaoohhaa…then Jonesy picked me up and we were off to the Acorn for the pre-match banter and scran.

The weather wasn’t the greatest but the rain probably helped the pitch as it had been dry, warm weather for the past few weeks.  The referee was a late show so the game kicked off 25 minutes late at 11:25.

From the kick off our attitude was spot on, everyone was up for it but you could tell it was an important match as both teams went at it and cancelled each other out.  We shaded the first half of the first half but Lang Toun came back into it to finish the stronger team.  Neither keeper had any real saves of note to make.  0-0 at half time.

Gav then came on to play out wide left not long into the second half.  The game was getting stretched now and Gav was finding plenty room up the left handside and had one great run from deep which ended with him hitting the post.  They resorted to plan B, brought on the big lad and punted it long but to no avail.  He put himself about as James found to his cost.

We went 1-0 up after about 5 minutes into the second half, a great quick free kick from Skelf (ball wasn’t moving….) through the middle of their sleeping defence for Willie to control it (eventually but coolly) and prod the ball game.  Big celebrations all round.  But we didn’t stop their and its great credit to the team that they carried on playing the way they had before the goal.

Marco and Skelf were pulling the strings in midfield.  Special mention to Marco for his shot with the outside of his boot, no laughing eh Willie ;).

“Uh nevur tuched um maaaan, I just pushed um…” aye nae bother “Uh nevur tuched um, I just elbow suppered um maaaan…”

The Corn sealed the game 2-0 after a great turn and finish from Kirky. I think he was about passing out at that stage due to all the running he had been doing but he tucked it away well.

Wee mention for Afghan Tam who jumped into a header with Bazza (for once!)…no guessing who came off the worst in that one…

Sticks pulled off a few brilliant saves near the end to ensure we got the 3 points and even took a boot in the face from “Uh nevur tuched um maaaaan”.

Brilliant hard working performance lads, its all up to us now, lets keep it going!

Team: Sticks, Donaldson, James, Robson, Baz, Skelf, Marco, Ricky Martin, Afghan Tam, Willbo and Kirk.

Subs: Jones, Gav, Pete, Col, JC

Game  started a wee bit late due to a lost ref and was played in the warm summer rain at Riverside. We started well and created a couple of early opens but Lang Toun come more n more into it through the half and Sticks had to make a good stop to keep it at 0-0

HT 0-0

2nd Half was a different game, we took the lead after quick thinking and a quick free kick fi Skelf onto Willie who slotted with his usual calmness. We started making more and more chances then and then Krik had a cracking turn and finish to make it 2 nil. Again we created a few more chances and struck the post. The last 10 mins we were a bit edgy and Sticks had to make 3 great saves to keep us the clean sheet and 3 pts.

FT 2-0

Cracking win the day which keeps us well in the mix for promotion.Lets carry this forward into the last few games.
