Golden Acorn  4 v 1  New Inn (League)

Goals from Toph (2), Willie and JC.

Game was played in The driving wind and rain although park looked ok to start with it soon cut up badly.  Acorn tried out a 3-5-2 formation today and took a while to get to grips with the new system.  The first 20 mins of the game were fairly even and New Inn took the lead after about 15 min with a headed goal.  That was the catalyst for the Corn to fight back and were level within 5 minute with a good finish from El Capitano.  Although we pressed hard for the rest of the half it wasnt to be with some fine chances spurned.

Acorn started the 2nd half well and went 2-1 up with a fine header from JC from a delightful corner from Mark (Dancer).  The goal was justice after Kirk was brought down by the keeper yet the ref only gave a corner.  The third goal came shortly afterward when Toph, with everyone else offside, strode through the New Inn defence and finished well. 

From then on in the result never looked in danger and we could have increased our lead from the penalty spot after a New Inn player was sent off for deliberate hand ball from a Hampton lob but the kepper made a good save from Willies penalty.  We also missed a good few chances until Toph sealed the win with a good 20 yard strike. 


All in all a good result which keeps the undefeated league run going.  Well done lads and apologies to the boys who did not get on.
