Forth disappointed by draw
05 September 2010

Forth were all set to make good use of their first encounter with Dunadd as a warm-up for the upcoming cup final.  Forth started with the strong breeze behind them and were piling the pressure on the Dunadd defence right from the throw up with the first shot at goal coming within moments of the start.  This soht went wide however and that turned out set the pattern for the day.  While Mairi Lawson and Liz Perry kept the ball well clear of the Forth goal the forwards were unable to find the back of the net despite Forth’s clear command of the gamel.  Dunadd managed to score first with a lucky ball that dribbled past Rudra Kapila in goal.  Forth finally managed to get on the scoreboard a few minutes later when a Katy Smith shot rebounded behind the Dunadd defender and was knocked into the goal by Aisling Spain.  Despite the fact that the ball remained firmly in the Dunadd end of the pitch for the rest of the half Forth were unable to break the deadlock as several good balls supplied by Jen Durkin and Jen Smith wend wide or were put out by the keeper for corners.

With the change of ends Forth continued as they had ended the previous half with near total dominance of the possession.  Again in this half there were only two hit-outs from the Dunadd goal, testament to Liz and the Jen Smith’s efforts.  Forth tried to repeatedly drive the ball down the right and left wings, giving Katy and Jen Durkin space to carry the ball towards the goal to shoot or lay off to the forwards but it wasn’t to be.  Hard tackling work by Leigh Fell at half forward resulted in some close range shots that also missed the mark.

It ended with a scoreline that disappointed Forth and flattered Dunadd.

Final score: Forth 1 - Dunadd 1
