Forth make a winning start to the season
07 March 2010

A good start to the season saw Forth comfortably beating a young and promising Linlithgow team on a perfect spring day in West Lothian. A shaky start for Forth saw a few wide shots. Great connections were being made but we just couldn’t get our shots on target. If only the pitch was a little longer! Forth took a while to get into the new 2-3-2 formation and were constantly checking for the third defender and forward.

Ruth Bordoli eventually broke the barrier by slotting a shot past the Linlithgow keeper. This was followed shortly by another well taken score from Jenny Pasquill. The reformed midfield partnership of Jenny Durkin and Katy Smith was working a treat once again after a year apart. Joined by Holly Webster (making a welcome return) the trio let very few balls into the Forth half and kept lots of pressure on the opposition defence. The ones that did get through to the back line were cleared up by a solid defence of Una Henry and Sophie Moyles. Mickie Imrie made her usual great contribution between the posts with a helping hand of her brand spanking new goalie stick.

The second half saw Linda Corcoran make her shinty debut. The Dublin camog made some great connections in the forward line and was very unlucky not to score on two occasions. Linlithgow got on the scoreboard after some good midfield and forward team play. Forth upped the pace after this and Katy scored Forth’s number 3.

Final Score: Forth 3 Linlithgow 1

Player of the Match:   Katy Smith/Jenny Durkin

One to Watch:             Linda Corcoran
