Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup Semi Final
07 June 2009

A slightly nervous and very excited Forth team travelled to Stirling to take on Tír Conaill in the Camanachd Cup semi-final. The match started at an intense pace that was to be maintained for the entire 70 minutes.  Tír Conaill scored the first goal but didn't maintain their lead for long.  Jo Gorniak used her pace to run the ball in past the goalie and her defender to net a goal.  The Forth backs did amazing work in clearing balls coming in, making life extremely difficult for the Tír Conaill forwards.  Tír Conaill managed one more goal shortly before the half but seemed to be tiring and losing their composure.

Forth came back out in the second half determined to make the most of the good work done in the first half.  Forth certainly took the upper hand in the second half, with Katy Smith equalising from a free.  Goalie Liz Perry performed some amazing saves but was no-one could have stopped the high ball that came in to the top of the net from Fiona Mathie.  Forth continued to dominate the match but were unlucky to concede another goal.  Despite the end result Forth were more than happy with their performance in this nail biting game.

Final score: Forth 2 - Tír Conaill 4
