THIS WEBSITE

When I came to Fleckney during June 2000, having moved from the City of Leicester, I noticed there wasn't much about Fleckney on the Internet. So, despite being new to creating websites, I thought I'd have a go at getting something together to help raise the profile of the village a little and to complement anything that already existed or might come along in the future.

I initially obtained the name www.thisisfleckney.com from www.getdotted.com with free site hosting from www.freeola.com. The site was created using a very simple piece of software called 'Web Artist 1' by 'Sierra Home'.

In 2007, I decided to change the website and instead use the services of a very good free website creator/hosting service from www.spanglefish.com.

Generally, any community can only be as good as its residents help to make it. Information and communication are both important to help improve knowledge, understanding and participation.

Although we all have different reasons for living in Fleckney and probably lead busy lives, taking an interest in the place we live, celebrating its good points and doing what we can to improve it can be good for all of us.

The websites were produced to help provide some information and to promote and celebrate the village. Whilst this website is not intended to be the definitive site to Fleckney, I hope that it's useful.

As it's difficult to contact everyone that might be mentioned in this site, I have generally tried to use information that is already in the public domain. I hope that's okay. However, if it's not, if anything is inaccurate or if you'd rather something not be included, please except my apologies and contact me.

For those of us that live in Fleckney, it's our village. It can only really be as good as we want to help to make it. Please visit again and perhaps sign the 'Guestbook' or give some 'Feedback' through the relevant pages.
