Welcome to Emma Papadopoulos Art

About the Artist

Emma Papadopoulos was born in the UK where she studied Art, majoring in Painting and achieving a Dipl. General Art & Design and BA (Hons) Fine Art at the University of Sunderland.

Emma had her first work selected for public exhibition at the York City Art Gallery (UK) at the age of 14. Over the years, she has been invited and participated in other exhibitions in Europe including Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre (Cyprus), Athens 2004 Olympiad (Greece) and Athens Municipal Arts Council (Greece) - Πνευματικό Κέντρο Δήμος Αθηναίων, the Florence 2011 Biennale (Italy) amongst others. This summer Emma is an invited participant at the second Santorini Biennale.

Emma takes her immediate environment as the subject-matter for her paintings - this may be in the form of a figure or a landscape. She is interested in employing vibrant colour, textures and shapes to create images on canvas.

Emma completed a series of paintings entitled 'Aegean', inspired by her travels throughout the Aegean which were exhibited on Chios, Greece in 2010. Some of the series is part of a collection at the Santorini Museum.

In addition to painting Emma has done volunteer work with individuals with disabilities and mental health illness and has taught Art to adults with disabilities. She has an MSc in Profound Disabilities.
