20th February 2010

Consecration

On the 20th of February 2010 we had the pleasure of having a new Preceptory created within the District, the Preceptory of Brisbane at Largs. The erection and consecration was performed by the Grand Master and Officers of the Great priory of Scotland in the Premises of St. John (Kilwinning) Largs No:173 and I’m delighted to say that the number of fratres visiting on the day was such that the Temple was almost bursting at the seams.
Following the consecration, the Grand Master opened the first muster of Brisbane at Largs and installed Ven.Fr. Robert Lamb as the first Preceptor. After the retiral of the deputation from The Great Priory of Scotland, the Right Eminent District Grand Prior John M. Turner congratulated the fratres of Brisbane of Largs for the culmination of a lot of hard work and effort being such a success, he then welcomed them into the District Grand Priory of Ayrshire.  March:   We had our first Aspirant.
The R.E.D.G.P. John McKenzie Turner began by commenting on the historic nature of the occasion. He then expressed congratulations to Fr. Leslie Duncan for being received as the first new joining member of Brisbane at Largs and expressed his hope that he would be able to come along at a later date to support him on his Installation as perhaps the first joining member to reach the chair of this his "Mother" preceptory.(Extract from "Minute Book")
Also on that evening,
The Acting Venerable Preceptor Fr. Denis then called upon the Mareschal to present to him R.E.D.G.P. John M. Turner and I.P.R.E.D.G.P. Peter C. Watson whereupon he offered Honorary Membership to Right Eminent Fraters John and Peter on behalf of the fraters of Brisbane at Largs. Both accepted and were duly obligated by Ven. Fr. Denis Morton. Both Right Eminent Fraters spoke in appreciation of the honour conferred. (Extract from "Minute Book")
