What we do Na bhios sinn a' dèanamh

Artsplay Highland has delivered training and educational workshops and interactive projects in the Inverness & Nairn area and beyond since June 2003.

Originally constituted by the group of artists from the HI-Arts Artsplay project, Artsplay Highland has focussed its work on the childcare and early years sectors.

We deliver training days to carers and teachers and then we go into the groups they work with and  we work directly with children. The groups put on performances and exhibitions once our projects have finished.

We have done all kinds of projects across all the artforms, working in collaboration with artists.

In 2005 we ran Taiwan Experience with Joanne Kaar and Ding-Wei Lin which toured around the Highlands and Islands in arts centres and drew in school and care groups to take part in workshops in this very unique opportunity with an artist from Taiwan.

Big Banners, Small Faces was led by John McNaught and Deborah Carter in 2006 working with primary schools across the Highlands and Islands and culminated in an exhibition at the Tartan Heart Festival, Belladrum in the Snapdragon tent.

We also worked with Artlink Highland and Alpha Munro  to organise Music Trains 05, 06, 07 and we ran Music Trains 08 at Eden Court. A successful series of training events in Orff Schulwerk with master tutors Doug Goodkin and Nanna Hlif Ingvadottir.

Melody, Rhythm and Rhyme concentrated on pre-5s groups and music learning culminating in performances by the groups at Eden Court, Inverness in 2008.

Our Intergenerational project, A Tale Gathering took Bob Pegg into a variety of community groups in the Dingwall and Inverness area and also to work with Cairn Housing Association during Highland 2007.

Every autumn we run training days in Inverness and the Highlands at community centres and hall venues (run by PAN members) for childcare staff and students across all artforms. We have delivered over 4000 arts workshops in 6 years around the Highlands.

We are registered with Learning and Teaching Scotland as a CPD provider.
