Action Plan


1) What do I want to improve?
I would like to improve my practices to enhance pre-service science teachers' ability to design an inquiry based activities

2) Why do I feel that something could be improved in what I am doing?

I graduated Bachelor’s Degree from faculty of science and then move to study in education. When I studied in faculty of science, I learned in-depth on science content. At that time, I didn’t knowledge how to teach science. I thought that I had content knowledge, then I can teach science.  When I studied in faculty of education, I changed my mind because I got good experiences and knowledge on how to teach science with an excellent teacher. She was my model. She acted on what she wanted students to be.  She always organized fun science activities for us. She then inspired me to be a good teacher who makes students happy in learning science. 

I have 4 years teaching experiences in science process skills course for 2nd year of science student teachers. The key aims of this course are to have students understand what science process skills are and also can design science activities integrated with science process skills. I always organize the course by providing students with fun hands-on activities and have them construct their own understanding.
However, I found that my student teachers understood clearly about sciences process skills, but could not design science activities that integrated skills. Moreover, science process skills course is the first core course in teaching science curriculum. It is a basic course for learning in other courses such as Methods of Teaching Science and Technology at the Elementary Level, Methods of Teaching Science and Technology at the Secondary Level, Science and Technology Project in School, etc.


3) What could I do that might improve what I am doing?

Provide more opportunities for students to apply what they practices on science process skills to design science activities integrated with science process skills after they practices each science process skills and let students reflect each others. I will video-recorded my teaching practices and then reflect myself and also ask my critical friends to give feedbacks or suggestions.
