The Revlon Girl

A play written 50 years after event about four mothers who had all lost a child in the Aberfan tip disaster and how they coped afterwards.   The women asked a cosmetic representative, 'The Revon Girl', to brighten up their lives, which brings some humour into the story.   Neil Docking, the writer, says that the lives of the mothers is based on fact and their feelings about a disaster that could have been prevented.

Below, in the first of two videos, the author says how he came to write the play, which was rehearsed at Pontardawe Arts Centre.    The play goes through all the emotions, bringing out the feelings of the mothers after losing a child in such tragic circumstances.

Performances are taking place in September/October 2016 all over South Wales following a West End revue.

The play is not suitable for anyone under fifteen years of age.
