A Grand Day Out
09 April 2016

The 16mm Annual Show took place on Saturday 9th April and we took a strong team along to exhibit Glendreich. The whole event had a bit of a tartan tinge as the visiting NG loco this year was Kilmarnock built Dougal, currently resident on the Talyllyn Railway. Dougal arrived on Friday morning to ensure that the loading could be done into an empty hall.

Layout set up was permitted from 2 pm on Friday and almost went flawlessly until we had to shuffle everything across by a few feet.  We claimed the non existent prize for having things set up and running first.

Saturday morning found us almost all present and correct at 9.30 ready for the off. Derek tells us that his satnav was having a bad day which meant that he is missing off the official photo.

Glendreich attracted a lot of interest and quite a few positive comments. A lot of people wanted free samples and we had to tell them that draconian English Licensing Laws prohibited these.

We had a couple of guest runners including this Guinness loco with accompanying bogie barrel carrier.

Tony Bird lent his Wine Merchant's lorry which was a handy runner during the occasional steam gap.

All too soon it was 5p.m. and time to pack up. Most of us came away a bit poorer having visited the various traders who were in attendance.
