A Very Naughty Engine
19 July 2015

Sunday saw Ian W hosting a track day on the newly revamped East Wood Light Railway.  The weather varied from sharp showers to hot sun but there was plenty of steam action.

Tom led the way with his Peter Angus 'Linda' seen here pulling the home line's passenger rake. In the background Fraser is seen preparing his new acquisition.

This is a modified Accucraft 'Superior' with a Roundhouse tender. Events soon showed what a solidly constructed loco this is.

Apologies for the photos from here on but the editor forgot his spare camera battery (and also his RC transmitter  but that is a different story)

The superior first rammed a rake of goods wagons showing us how robust Ian's rail built  buffers are and that Ferrero Rocher cartons are surprisingly crash resistant. Sadly the same could not be said for the chassis and one of the trucks had to be removed for workshop repairs.

The VNE then rammed a passing Passsenger train admidships, fortunately without damage, before returning to the far end of the siding to have another go at the trucks, successfully hospitalising the remaining two. That was the end of the VNE's day but not of traffic.

Ian McG was unlucky enough to pick a rainy spell to run his Roundhouse Atlantic with the EWLR's substitute goods rake. At least this 0-6-2T behaved immaculately.

Dave W's Mamod also behaved itself in a sunny spell and put in a new course record of 18 laps on one steaming.

Thanks go to Susan for an excellent lunch.  If you have access to the WoSG Facebook group, Tom has posted a couple of his pictures there.

The rain returned
