A few of us spent August Bank Holiday Sunday at Tom H's carrying out some long threatened alterations to South Beach. These included adding an additional crossover between the running lines on the opposite side of the circuit, adding a "loco cooling" spur adjacent to the turntable access road and stapling down a few acres of astroturf. Only a shortage of pointwork stopped us laying out an extensive new marshalling yard along the straight next to South Beach station.

The weather was much as we have come to expect this year and we were driven into the shelter of Tom's garage for a couple of short sharp showers but we were able to enjoy an alfresco lunch - the onion bhajis went down particularly well.

Possibly carried away with our success we agreed to discuss ideas for a small portable layout suitable for indoor running during the winter months. This discussion to take place at Dave W's on 18th September.
