STAGE 3: ASHBURNHAM TO BATTLE ABBEY

The second longest stage, and certainly the most testing with a severe climb up to the top of Tent Hill, where William the Conqueror's troops encamped on the eve of their historic battle with King Harold's army. The climb becomes more gradual as you continue up to Steven's Crouch, followed by a lovely downhill stretch along the public bridleway through the Normanhurst Estate leading into the village of Catsfield. From there it is an easy 2 miles to the finish outside iconic Battle Abbey.
