All routes within a maximum 20 mins drive from Hastings

Routes vary from 3 to 9 miles in distance, and are graded from 1 (Easy) to 5 (Very testing!)

Routes equally suitable for walkers, dog walkers and runners; dog walkers in particular will be be advised on the likelihood of encountering sheep and cows on each route

Many of the routes incorporate sections of the 1066 Country Walk. This 32 mile trail starts at Pevensey Castle, where William the Conqueror landed in East Sussex, and goes via Battle where he defeated King Harold to finish at the lovely town of Rye. You can stand on the very spot where Harold was slain and explore the atmospheric ruins of Battle Abbey. Several of the routes also include sections of the Sussex Border Path with Kent.

Grid refs and postcodes provided for the start of each route. Battle and Crowhurst are within 5 mins walk of rail stations on the London to Hastings line; Rye is 5 mins walk from the rail station on the Ore to Ashford line. However for the remaining routes you will need the use of a car!
