APEX Summer 2009

The intention of the APEX Summer  programme is to give children and young people the opportunity to explore and develop, with peers and adults, their talents for creating and offering knowledge in an area of personal enthusiasm as educational gifts.

This year ten modules ran in parallel for four days during the first week of the 2009 summer holidays after an introductory evening a couple of weeks earlier. 250 children and young people participated working with a module provider, other educators and professionals with various expertise, both on and off site. You can get a taste of what they were anticipating by looking at the module fliers.

The Presentation and Celebration Ceremony was held on the final day from 4-6pm in the Forum in Bath. Family of participants, educators and members of the Authority were invited to celebrate with us the achievements and experiences of the children and young people. Each module made a five minute presentation to an audience of over 700 children, young people and adults before being awarded their certificate by Mr Brian Chalker, Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

You can enjoy the video of the young people's presentations on YouTube, (click on the workshop title to watch.) Slide shows of the photos taken during the four days by the participants, and Andrew Henon and Karen Dews (nesa) will give you a taste of what they experienced.

Details of individual modules can be found on http://www.livinglearning.org.uk
