One Tenant to Another - volume 9 Issue 5 - September 2011

Turberville Court

We went to meet the familes in Turberville Court, Hemingford Grey on Thursday 14th Huly at 5.30pm as part of Rural Housing week 11th - 17th July.

We were also celebrating the transfer of this rural housing scheme and the residents from a national housing association to a local housing society, Hundred Houses Society.

The resident were invited to a 'Hog Roast' with lovely salads and soft drinks. Most of the residents turned out including teenager and babies, unfortunately some of the residenmts were still at  work. I think the fact that it was a lovely evening, weather wise, helped.

Chris Jackson, chiel Excutive and most of the staff from HHS attended; Valerie Cutting, Chair of the Residents Association and myself, Secretary of the Residents Association. Valerie and I had two hats on that evening, as we represented the Board of Hundred Houses Society as well. The local Member of Parliament, Jonathon Djanogly, District Councillors and the Chairman of the Parish Council were invited. Trish Reed, head of Housing Strategy at Huntingdon District Council was there. Life is funny, she is covering for a colleague on maternity leave who happens to the daughter of John Barrett ex-chield Executive of Hundred Houses Society.

It is a new looking complex of 18 affordable houses, very nicely set out for families with local connections to the village, there was a lovely friendly and relaxed feel to the event.

We did a 'One to Another' newsletter drop while we were there.
