WE are busily putting together a new page of results, photos etc from the recent Beardie Herding Weekend held at Pickering with guest tutor Carl Borgstrom from Sweden.  When it is ready it will appear on the website www.spanglefish.com/HerdingBeardies

Congratulations to the eleven dogs which gained their certificates.  The test is quite demanding and a few dogs for whatever reason did not make the grade - to pass first time is quite an achievement. We felt that some of our near-misses could get there next time round, as for many of them this was literally their first exposure to the herding situation, and they lacked a little confidence.

It was also fascinating for the more experienced dogs and handlers to have Carl's insight into the way forward with their training.  Once again he has inspired us and given us new goals to aim for, and we thank him for coming to give us the benefit of what he has learned in 12 or so years of training Beardies for herding.

Hopefully he will visit Pickering again. In the meantime we are planning another "Beardie Herding Event" which will be in July, the weekend of Leeds Ch show - back-to-back with the show which we thought might be good for anyone wanting to have a full weekend of showing then herding in sunny Yorkshire,  Fuller details on the herding website, link as above.
