Herding Group and Golden Oldies Night

Bright sunshine, blue skies, and a rush of green as fields and hedges burst into life - it must be spring!  And a small band of Beardie herding enthusiasts today celebrated the season's arrival with a relaxed group training day at our usual venue, The Glebe at Pickering.

Diva is still somewhat in season, so had to pass on this lovely treat, and instead Blaze with Honey for company went off to meet his brothers Cawley and Mirk and all the other Beardies, plus Maisie the Springer x Border Collie (an honorary Beardie for the occasion).  Everybody had a great time, being put through their paces, and learning a few new skills too under the patient tuition of Jackie, our trainer for the day.

Happy dogs, lively company, and near-perfect weather, what more could we ask for?

Further doggy activities followed this evening, when Meg, duly brushed and prancing with joy, attended the annual Golden Oldies competition, as the veteran show dog honoured to represent York Canine Association at this event.  She gave a good account of herself, winning her round, but on this occasion found herself later standing down to the eventual winners.

Nevertheless she had a very enjoyable evening, as did all her supporters from the York club, and made several new friends both human and canine - below she meets the judge (photo by Ann Quinn)
