Accrington & District Canine Association Open Show

Blaze went by himself to this large open show, which was just as well, since the chances of comfortably preparing more than one Beardie for the ring amongst the milling throngs of people and dogs would have been fairly slim!  As it was he settled quite nicely on his borrowed grooming table, and was a good boy in the ring.

Under judge Mrs Deborah Penniston Fleming he took first prize in the Bearded Collie Post-Grad class, and a respectable second in the Open class behind his auntie Chelsea, a younger sister of his mum Meg.  We were delighted to see her go on to take the Pastoral group especially having heard how ill she had been less than a year ago, what a worry for her owners!

A trip to a show was perhaps just what Blaze needed to take his mind off the goings-on at home.  Meg and Honey came into season on Wednesday and Diva and Ruby decided they would follow on this morning, so all the smells must be quite intoxicating for our young man!  Our part-time dog, the Border Collie Tally, will be over the moon when he next visits us on Tuesday, but let's hope he doesn't attempt any more uninvited amorous behaviour with Meg.  She was so cross with him on Thursday she chased him all the way across the garden, and succeeded in causing him to yelp and apologise!!!

Anyone who knows our Meg will know she's very particular when it comes to canine good manners and her son Blaze is keeping a polite distance - Tally needs to pick up a few tips from him!
