Lent

Lent prepares for Easter, for the Lenten liturgy disposes both faithful and catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery as the centre of the Liturgical Year and of the Christian Life. Preceded by the penitential rites of Ash Wednesday and preparatory days following, Lent opens formally on the First Sunday and continues for 40 days to Holy Thursday. Purple is the colour of the season, and flowers are not used.

Exposition

There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Broadford on Thursday from 7.00-8.00pm. All are welcome to attend even for a short while.

Bishop Peter Moran

Bishop Peter will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood at a Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral on Wednesday 25th March 2009 at 7pm. All parishioners are warmly invited to attend this great celebration. An indication of numbers attending is required by 2nd March to help with seating and catering arrangements. The congregation is asked to be seated by 6.30pm. Please let me know if you wish to attend.

Thought for the Week

“There is a really deep well inside me. And in it dwells God. Sometimes I am there too. But more often stones and grit block the well, and God is buried beneath. Then he must be dug out again.” Etty Hillesum

Parish Website

Why not try out the new parish website which is currently under construction, and which will hopefully help us in our fund-raising efforts. The address:

From the Catechism

124. In what condition was the body of Christ while it lay in the tomb?

Christ underwent a real death and a true burial. However, the power of God preserved his body from corruption.

“Jesus Christ descended into hell;

on the third day He rose again from the dead.”
