Births, Marriages and Deaths (BMD)
There is a WebSite that has a large team of volunteers who are transcribing the official Quarterly Returns of Births, Marriages and Deaths (BMD) in England from June 1832 when it became Law to Register these events. The data provided is what is needed to order from the Official Registrar a copy (for a fee) of the relevant Certicate, which contains more information. Work continues, is not yet complete.

As with the BMD Registers, there is a similar scheme to transcribe and provide for Free the data on Census Records. So far they have only done up to 1891; work cntinues.

And finally there is different but also FREE service to provide free access to all these and other such documents. But you have to "register", and provide a password; it provides a simple way to create your own Family Tree - and all for FREE ! So what's the catch ? Well, none, really; except that your Tree of dead people is open to anyone. Living people's data is hidden. The Service is run by the Mormons - "The Church of Latter Day Saints" - but you wouldn't know it unless you looked for signs!

Dorset Death Certificates 1837-1875
Mark Collyer is collecting Dorset death certificates (for the period 1837-75) and has transcribed them and set up this free-to-use website.
And then there is this WebSite - Forebears
The main aim of the site is to bring together the wide variety of genealogical sources available on and off-line and catalogue them; so as to make them easily accessible by researchers looking for records relating to ancestors in a particular town, region or country. Forebears is based in Bački Monoštor, Serbia.
It is a genealogy portal - basically, just a whole stack of Links - which includes:
- a geographically indexed and cross-referenced directory of sources for family history research
- a dictionary of surname meanings, including information on their geographic distribution
