Battle of the Backstabbers

Come the revision of constituency boundaries in Wales the fight for Labour seats will be bitter, even brutal. I can't help feeling that battle lines are already being drawn in Neath.

It was reported in Wales Online recently that Stephen Kinnock "........ says he has a claim to the new Neath and Aberavon seat, so Labour members there could face a choice between him and the current Neath MP, Christina Rees".

If the Aberavon seat is split, expect him to also make a pitch for the new Ogmore and Port Talbot seat. Nothing like hedging your bets. Kinnock has called the proposal a "bare-faced gerrymander", but it's an attempt to more equally reflect the number of voters nationally per MP from what I can see. The Kinnock family know a fair bit about political manoeuvring, having benefited so much from the patronage, nepotism and cronyism that hang over the Labour Party like a bad smell.

I wouldn't expect Boyo to pick up much support from the Neath end and social media signs are already suggesting, how can I put it, less than subtle hints that Son of Windbag will struggle here.

Remember Mark Fisher, the former Neath Town Mayor, Unison official, and once an aspiring Aberavon constituency Labour candidate himself? He lost out to Boyo, as did our current Neath AM, Jeremy Miles. Well Mr Fisher has certainly been setting out his stall. Only one vote he has, of course, but he is likely to have more influence than the average donkey voter. Just have a little look at this Twitter exchange with a third party dated 26 June 2016 - that's the weekend of the "chicken coup" against Corbyn. And just before all the orchestrated resignations and the Vote of No Confidence in Corbyn, when Boyo's daddy came along to the Commons to thump the table and try to reclaim " his" Party.

But it doesn't stop there. Only a couple of weeks later Mr Fisher was at it again, tweeting "Just watched @SKinnock GMB TV interview on why Angela Eagle can win the @UKLabour Leadership. That's the end of her campaign then. #Corbyn"

And how right he was there, fair play to him. Because the Eagle never really took flight once someone had rubbed crude oil into her wings and off she was carted to a bird sanctuary never to be seen nor heard of again.

Then on 26 September at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, the Fisher who would be King has another pop at Boyo:

"Very disappointed as a @AberavonLabour supporter that @SKinnock did not mention Save our Steel in his speech @UKLabour Conference #Lab16"

Although he tweets about potential deselection for "backstabbers" like Kinnock this threat doesn't seem to extend to more local "backstabbers", namely the MP for Neath herself. Because in Christina Rees' case, despite her being one of those who resigned from Corbyn's team and backed Oily Smith to the hilt, Mr Fisher is altogether more effusive.

Here he is again at the Labour Party conference, cosying up to her on 27 September. Or perhaps it's she to him. Who has the most to gain, one might ask?
"Great to see my MP @Rees4Neath @UKLabour Conference with a Save our Steel badge. #Lab16"

Does Mr Fisher have a tanning machine or has he just been on an exotic holiday? You don't look like that with the weather we get in Neath.

And here's an earlier one for you. Do you recognise where it's taken from?

Top prize if you do, because this photo is taken from Leicester City's football ground at their match with the Swans in August 2016. Mr Fisher is a passionate Swansea FC supporter so it's good he had a cracking seat and view. This is what he said: "What a view from http://D.G.Legal  corporate box @LCFC @SwansOfficial big thanks to @Rees4Neath & D.G Legal"

DG Legal are a firm from Leicester who provide legal services. I don't know if they've ever done work for or alongside Ms Rees. But clearly Mr Fisher saw fit to thank both of them for making his day with a special seat - oh, except the Swans lost 2-1.

It's clear to me that if it comes to a choice of picking between the backstabbers Boyo and Ms Rees, that Mark Fisher has already made his choice. And to be perfectly frank with you, if I HAD to pick one of the two - well Boyo can sling his hook back to his flat in Brent, or preferably back to Copenhagen, Geneva, St Petersburg or some other faraway place. But in an ideal world I'd prefer to see the back of both of them.

I've no truck with any of those Labour MPs who chose to rock the boat at precisely the time when all hands were needed on deck. That's mutiny on the high seas - and you'd have paid the highest price for it.
