FFS, STaN - WTF are you writing these days?

What can I say? I am sorry if anyone is offended by my use of bad language, which I only use unexpurgated in my STaN column, not on the Neath Ferret pages where I "asterisk" if I slip the odd one in. I assume the complaint has come as a result of my recent spoof "Chris Bryant" letter of resignation to Jeremy Corbyn.

Bryant is a former Anglican priest, and always on his moralistic high horse. Yet he delights in winding people up on his Twitter account, and when they lose their box, he'd rather tweet their uncensored comments for effect rather than simply ban them from his account. And I assure you - they are FAR WORSE than anything I write. I shouldn't have to explain why the spoof letter was so blunt but if you'd followed Bryant's Twitter that week you'd have seen it littered with profanities, like a conversation in a prison exercise yard. So the spoof letter was meant to be satirical - geddit?

If it is the case that people's enjoyment of what they read or watch is genuinely ruined by even the odd "f-word" then I'm afraid that many excellent 20th century novels (and older), films, TV and even live theatre would have been spoiled for them.  Even the Harry Potter novels have the odd expletive. My advice would be never, ever go to the Grand Theatre in Swansea to see Chubby Brown because you'll need a paramedic.

I'd recommend that if people are offended, they give my column a miss, because I won't promise the odd expletive won't be in future posts. If they want to live in a sanitised bubble where their senses are never accosted by profanity then that's their choice but they'll miss out on a lot in my opinion - and I'm not talking about my column but what is written and broadcast generally. It doesn't bother me one iota. Where I slip in the odd "f-word" I think it's done to add something to my writing, and not gratuitously. And since I'm the one that's writing it - it's only my opinion that matters, heh, heh.
