A catch up of updates for you all;

• Thanks to Kat Lenz and Heather McDermott for being our first local “Artist (s) of the Month” at our community shop in Armadale. Their last day of their tenure is this Friday and they then hand the baton over to Janet Hey and Suzanne Arnold. Pictures to come early next week of their display items.
• We now have our first dozen subscribers connected to our Skyenet broadband network and the feedback has been great regarding our installation process and service provision. We are still doing battle with BT regarding buying new backhaul lines to broaden out our customer reach….it’s a tortuous process!
• The forest school initiative run by Emma Micski hosts its first woodland nursery event with promises of songs, stories, snack and play in the woods. Starts next Weds (3rd) at the Tormore site from 10am. For pre-school aged children and no booking required…..just turn up.
• Great Community Land Scotland conference last week; Main themes "Hold Fast" from new CLS Chair to Scot Gov on Land Reform, mapping "wild" land areas and the implications thereof, "yer dinner's in your wellies", from Sandra Holmes HIE, to signify how much volunteer time is spent on community projects and finally thanks given to David Cameron, outgoing Chair, for all the incredible work that he has carried out in leading the charge for more community land ownership in Scotland.
• Tickets still available at various Sleat outlets for the Great Sleat Draw. There are over 25 top prizes including; Belladrum festival tickets, dining at top Sleat hotels, whisky related goods, a flying experience and a pottery lesson. The draw itself will take place on the opening night of the “Made In Sleat” exhibition on the 25th of July in Duisdale Hall. T and C’s online at www.sleat.org.uk
• We have had an approach by the Skye Sailing Club to hosts a community “learn to sail” day in Armadale. We will start to explore the possibilities of having such an event during the upcoming school holidays.
• The feasibility study to review development opportunities for the Trust assets has been issues to several Skye and Lochalsh based architectural companies. Tender submissions are due within the next week.
• The Trust has been asked to provide background information re our project work to consultants working on a proposal for a community project at the Spittal of Glenshee.
