Trust Snippets - w/e 1st February

This week’s updates as follows;

• The rearranged Zero Waste Scotland/Trust local produce evening is now confirmed for the 5th March at Ardvasar Hall from 7pm. Clan Donald venison, The Gaelic Whiskies, jam/chutney demonstration by Calina Conserves and seafood tasters by Dede McGillvary are just some of the local producers that will take part. A free event….just turn up on the night.
• The Forestry Commission of Scotland has agreed to a joint valuation of two tracts of forestry in the Kinloch area. The result of this body of work, which will be carried out by the district valuer, will be key if the Trust is to pursue a potential purchase of the land through the National Land Forest Scheme.
• In Tormore, ground works are nearing completion for the wood fuel shed base area along with internal roads to the facility. Further work will be carried out to establish a stack yard area for timber in the coming weeks.
• Next week we have a meeting of the Trust’s broadband group and with the Camuscross & Duisdale Initiative. Chrisanne MacDonald from the SLCVO will also visit the Trust offices.
• The Tormore Community Fund awards committee met this week to consider an application from the South Skye Community Moorings Association. The committee decided not to award a grant towards the legal fees of the potential old Armadale pier buyout but did agree that funding would be available for a marine based community event.
• The Trust welcomes three new members Philip Taylor & Kenneth and Olena Beal of Sasaig.
• The winner of the quiz, run in the recent newsletter, is Nicola Thomson of Camuscross.
• Archie MacCalman has agreed to attend the Rural Housing Conference in Birnam on the 22nd February on behalf of the Trust.
