This week’s updates as follows;

• A lot of activity in Tormore Forest over the last week. Over 12,000 new trees have been planted in the harvested areas. The groundworks for the new wood fuel shed continues apace with a large area now cleared.  Wood chipping and deliveries have also been on going to the college.
• Bun Sgoil Shlèite are ordering more cookbooks after their initial run sold out. Anyone wishing to order a cookbook with lots of tasty recipes collected together by the pupils then get in touch either by phone (01471 844326) or email (Bunsgoil.shleite@highland.gov.uk). The prices are; 1 cookbook = £7.50, 2 cookbooks = £14.00, 3 cookbooks = £20.00.
• The pre Xmas cancelled Zero Waste Scotland/Trust local food evening has been rescheduled for the 5th March at Ardvasar Hall. More details over the next few weeks.
• The environment group is hosting a winter talk this Weds 30th Jan at 7.30pm in Ardvasar Hall. Bob MacMillan from Skye Birds will talk on the theme of “Skye Birds of Prey”
• A community tree planting day is being arranged in Tormore Forest on the 23rd February. This will give the community the chance to help with the replanting of native trees in the forest. More details shortly.
• Work has been continuing on the fabric of our Trading facility. The portacabin internal walls/ceiling have received a fresh coat of white paint, a new counter has been made and installed, a small internal wall removed and our meters/fuse boxes have been boxed in. Thanks to Neil MacKinnon and Calum MacEachern for their sterling efforts to make this happen so promptly.
• The 99th Trust board meeting will take place on Monday night the 28th Jan. 
• The Trust has loaned its display stand to the Sleat Historical Society to help with their event on the history of Isle Ornsay at Talla Dearg this weekend. Our projector has been loaned to SEALL for its AGM and will be used again next Friday at the South Skye Moorings Association AGM at the Duisdale Hotel.
• The Trust has been approached to take part in an European Island Initiative to promote better sustainability in our area by the Scottish Islands Federation. The Trust board will decide if we should take part after further information is provided
