Here you go with this week’s news items
• Starting with yet another piece of good news for the Trust. The Raonull and Eileen MacInnes Trust has donated £5000 to the Trust. These monies will be used to complete works on the filling station extension.
• Avonline, a satellite broadband supplier will be visiting Sleat on Thursday the 8th of November. Their demonstration van will be located at the Trust’s Offices in Armadale at 1.30pm.
• Next Tuesday is the Trust’s AGM. Proceedings start at 7pm at Seomar Cruinneachaidh, Sabhal Mor Ostaig. Please do try to attend as we need as many members as possible to make the meeting quorate.
• Angus will attend the Santander Social Enterprise Awards ceremony in London next Friday. Sleat Renewables Ltd were the recipients of an award for their wood fuel supply project.
• Chris will be in North Berwick next week giving a presentation about wood fuel supply chains to the Rural and Islands Housing Association conference.
• The Trust is donating £50 to Bun Sgoil Shleite for their cookery book project.
• A car boot sale is being organised for the 24th of November at the Trust’s offices. Spaces are £8. To book contact Sue on 01471 844722 or 07946 547102
• The Trust is proposing to set up a broadband action group to tackle poor connection speeds around the parish. If you wish to join the group get in touch on 844773 and we can arrange a first meeting and action plan for the project.
• A meeting has taken place with Scottish Woodlands to review the first years harvesting of Tormore and to look at the possibility of a new contract for future felling. Other companies will also be approached during this process.
• Rhoda Grant MSP visits the Trust today for an overview of our activities.
• Derek Logie of the Rural Housing Service will be giving a presentation titled "Options for developing community owned housing” at Sabhal Mor Ostaig (meeting room Canna in the new building) on the 8th of November at 7.30pm. All welcome to attend.
• Angus and Archie’s Three Peaks Challenge monies is finally being distributed with £2000 in total being donated to Lucky2bHere. A presentation will be made to Sleat Lunch Club on the 15th November of a remaining £660 from our fundraising event.
