Trust Snippets - w/e 31st August

This week’s updates as follows;

• Lisa Corse and Sam Graham have stepped down from their respective roles as directors of SCT and Trading. Thanks from all at the Trust for their help and input over their combined years of service.
• Chris is attending the Community Woodlands Association annual conference this weekend in the Borders.  Chris has been nominated to stand as a director of the association and all being well this should be ratified at their AGM which takes place during the conference.
• Log sales continue apace. Over 750 tonnes of timber for firewood have now been sold to customers around the island. Great feedback from customers about the quality of timber and the service provided by the Trust.
• Angus will attend the Development Trust Association Scotland conference and AGM early next week in Cumbernauld.
• The new Manager of Clan Donald, Stephen MacKeown, visits the Trust this Wednesday.
• Environment group reps accompanied Chris around the upper part of the forest this week to survey the land.
• We welcome community representatives of Melness, Tongue and Helmsdale this coming Friday for a two day visit to view/hear about the work of the Trust. They will be staying in the Ardvasar Hotel and give them a warm Sleat welcome if you should meet them during their visit.
• Angus, Chris and Sharon will be missing from the office this Tuesday morning as we go along to clear up the Kyleakin quarry of timber debris from our now finished operations at this facility.
• Our application to the Highland Council Discretionary Fund for a grant for our woodfuel facility will be heard on Monday.
• Materials have been delivered for the portacabin refurbishment. Calum hopes to make a start next week on the work. We need your feedback on what items you would like stocked within our new retail space. Mail to office@sleat.org.uk
