This week's updates are as follows;
• We entertained Alasdair MacVicar and David Stevenson from Westray Trust on Wednesday. Discussion was mainly around governance, trading subsidiaries and dispersal of funds.
• Amanda Bryan also popped in on Weds to discuss a joint project proposal which would require SCT to work with community groups in Romania on a potential forest themed project. This has been made possible through funding available from the Arkelton Trust and would also involve one further Scottish community group possibly Coigach or Culag. We have asked for a paper from Amanda outlining what the scope of the project is, what benefits there would be for the Trust and what resources we would have to expend.
• Angus R attended, on behalf of the Trust, a meeting at Alistair Culbertson house relating to his private wind power development on his croft land. The meeting was to share information about the project, the timetable for planning permission and, if successful, the construction process. The development size is 6 x 12kW turbines and will be located on the hill with the communications mast behind Ferrindonald.
• Private log length (3m) sales are now up to 280 tonnes with deliveries to commence around the end of July.
• The New Scottish Land Fund is now open for business. More info can be found here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-18630594
• Helmsdale and District Trust have been back in touch with potential dates for their visit. Dates are around the first week in September and they are now talking about bringing up to 8 visitors to see us over two days. They have also disclosed that HIE are prepared to pay SCT a fee for their visit.
• A mounding contractor has arrived in the forest and will spent the next few months preparing the ground for tree planting at the end of this year.
• An application has been made to Santander for funding towards the cost of building a wood fuel processing facility in the forest. The application is in the name of SRL.
• Serena Smart has agreed to become a director of our Trading arm.
• Angus R and Chris start their summer holidays from the 29th June and the 2nd of July respectively.
