Community Transport Grant

Sleat Community Trust has received a grant of £53,000 to establish a community subsidised taxi-service. This follows a transport study undertaken for the Trust by Steve Heap in 2007. Various options were looked at to help make public transport more easily avaiable to the Sleat Community, including a mini-bus, subsidised taxis, car-shares and other projects.

The Trust applied to Highland Council for a taxi scheme, but found that funding had run out.

A year later the Trust is delighted to receive confirmation that the funding has now gone through. In the next few weeks the Trust will investigate how to best set up a community subsidised taxi-service in the Autumn.
