AM BUS BEAG DEALAIN / THE WEE ELECTRIC BUS
Sleat's community minibus is up and running!
The purpose of the community minibus is to promote health, mobility, education and social inclusion. The minibus is therefore available to Sleat residents for uses which support these goals. Unfortunately the bus can’t be used for private events or trips to the pub!
WHAT’S THE BUS DOING TO START WITH?
1) Two regular trips which you can book a place on, running every week starting 28th October. The two pilot trips are:
ORD LOOP > ARMADALE STORES - Tuesday mornings. Bus leaves Armadale at 10am to collect people living on the Tarskavaig-Ord-Teangue loop. The bus will take people to Armadale Stores and return them home after shopping is done.
WHOLE OF SLEAT > KYLE - Wednesday afternoons. Bus leaves Armadale at 12.30pm to collect people living anywhere in Sleat. The bus will take people to Kyle and return them home after shopping is done.
2) We’ll also offer use of the bus on a need basis. If you have something important coming up (such as a doctor/dentist appointment) and you have no other way to get there, we’ll do our best to help.
Use by other Sleat-based groups
If your group would like to use the bus for something which supports our four goals of health, mobility, education and social inclusion, we’ll be happy to lend it to you. You will need to provide a driver, who must allow us to take a copy of their licence in advance. Everyone on the bus must be a resident of Sleat.
Charges
Trips within Skye and Kyle - £1 per person for a return trip
Trips outwith Skye and Kyle – users must fill the bus with the amount of fuel they will use (equivalent to 20p/mile)
How to book
Whether you’re catching one of our regular trips, or booking the whole bus for a group outing, you will need to book every time. Please contact Eleanor on eleanor@sleat.org.uk or 844773 to make a booking. Eleanor is in the office Monday-Thursday each week.
The more notice you give us the more likely we can fit you in!
In the future
We need more volunteer drivers! There is no obligation to do more than you want to – please get in touch for more info. We hope to be able to offer lots more regular trips throughout Sleat, as well as grocery deliveries and more, but we need your help.
Please note
The bus is not available for use by unaccompanied children on trips run by Sleat Community Trust itself.
All trips run by Sleat Community Trust are dependent on the availability of volunteer drivers. It is possible that trips may be cancelled at short notice due to lack of availability.
