Caerleon Petanque Clubs
Below are the clubs and pubs in Caerleon where you can play boules. All will welcome you for a game. On league nights you won't get a chance to play but you can come and watch and meet the club members. Some of the clubs have open competitions and all of the clubs will let you play on their pistes if you visit. For more specific and up to date information use the links to the club's own website.

THE BELL
LOCATION: Bulmore Road, Caerleon. NP18 1QQ
PISTES: 2 rough & challenging pistes - ideal to hone your skills.
DESCRIPTION: A pub famed for its cider, music and food. Try and combine a visit with their real ale festival. At the moment the pistes are very underused but they are well worth a visit.
PLAYING DATES: The Bell does not have a team or playing nights. There are a number of regulars at the Bell who are looking to set up a team - They need more members and someone willing to captain them - If you are interested please contact the Bell.

CAERLEON RFC
LOCATION: Broadway, Caerleon, Newport, Gwent. NP18 1AY
PISTES: 4 pistes, 2 smooth, 2 rough.
DESCRIPTION: The petanque club is part of the rugby club. Petanque pistes are open to the public.
PLAYING DATES: League matches through the summer are held on Monday and Wednesday nights. Some club and open competitions held on weekends. Regular friday night melees are held and open to visitors.
BOULES TO BORROW: Boules available to borrow from club members on Friday nights.

RED LION
LOCATION: Backhall Street, Caerleon, Newport, Gwent. NP18 1AR
PISTES: 2 very deep gravel pistes, ideal for high pointing.
DESCRIPTION: The pistes are set in a sun-trap pub garden and can be played on whenever the pub is open.
PLAYING DATES: League matches through the summer are held on Monday nights.

ROMAN LODGE
LOCATION: Ponthir Road Caerleon, Newport NP18 3NY
PISTES: 3 pistes opposite the pub, raised in the carpark.
DESCRIPTION: The Roman Lodge serves food and has accomodation. There is no longer a team here, so the pistes are rarely used.
PLAYING DATES: No teams play at the Roman Lodge

PONTHIR HOUSE
LOCATION: Ponthir, Newport, Gwent NP18 1PG
PISTES: 2 pistes set end to end at the bottom of the car park.
DESCRIPTION: The Ponthir House is a busy pub that serves food.
PLAYING DATES: League matches through the summer are held on Monday nights. Club members often play on Saturday lunchtimes.

THE STAR INN

PISTES: 2 short pistes set in a lovelly patio area next to the pub.
DESCRIPTION: The Star inn is just outside Caerleon. The Inn serves food in its restaurant.
PLAYING DATES: League matches through the summer are held on Monday nights.

WHEATSHEAF INN
LOCATION: The Wheatsheaf Inn, Llanhennock, Nr Caerleon, NP18 1LT
PISTES: Up to 8 pistes set in the car park. Terrains vary but generally smooth.
DESCRIPTION: Set in an idyllic location, great views. Food served at lunchtimes. Camra pub.
PLAYING DATES: League matches played on Monday and Wednesday nights. Open Melees held on Wednesday nights through summer and on Sundays through winter. Club and open competitions held regularly on Sundays.
