Creating Interest
S'mae. In view of the future merger between NPT and Swansea county councils i'm concerned that like Morriston, Gowerton, etc Neath could be in danger of losing some of its unique identity as an historic town in its own right. So before the merger happens i thought it may be useful if the profile of the area was raised by making a history of the social and economic development of the area by using local people and groups to act out historical events in the towns history. Ideally i would like to involve the university and local colleges, as i believe there is enough local talent to make a good quality and possibly groundbreaking digital film. As we are now in the post-industrial era i thought it would be useful if the acting volunteers were also invited to share their memories, etc to be recorded for future generations, students of humanities and suchlike.
Would you be interested in contributing some of your knowledge and expertize towards such a project ? I understand the archive service is facing cutbacks, so i wrote to the Heritage Lottery Fund and had a positive reply and next month i will be asking the town council for their support and will also be looking for the support and cooperation from the towns traders through the recently formed 'Neath Inspired BID' group, amongst others.
I believe this is a good opportunity for Neath and it would be great if you could take part.

Website
Very good. Why doesn't Neath do more to sell itself as it has so much to offer ?

The whole of the website
I met Jason today at the antiquerians, he gave me a brief insight into what is hoped can happen in the next few years. He recommended I look at the web site, I am very impressed with it and the obvious hard work and commitment that has gone into it. I am originally from Neath but have lived at Maesteg for nearly 50 years. I have always continued to take an interest in the Town and what is in the pipeline. I look forward to updates on the site of developments and achievements.
Good luck with every thing you seek to achieve. Jacqui

Talk on history of St.Thomas' Church
The Nifty Wednesday Club were lucky enough to have a talk on the history of St Thomas's Church given by Rev Steven Ryan. It was interesting to have him explain in detail. afterwards we all trotted over to the Town Hall for afternoon tea,and enjoyed looking at the paintings there. We had a really good day.
